Building and Construction applications

Floor insulation
Where it becomes necessary to thermally insulate the floor, Spaceloft line aerogels represent, indeed, the best solution thanks to their low thickness and high thermal resistance (0.71 m²K/W for SL10251). It should also be said that its peculiar dynamic stiffness and compression resistance allows the reduction of footsteps noise in resilient flooring (with floating screed). This can also be achieved in presence of underfloor heating systems reducing, at the same time, the heat loss through the floor below too. Spaceloft thus provides superior thermal performance together with remarkable acoustical insulation properties in just 10 mm thick.

The installation is made by laying down Spaceloft strips over the floor level base and then joining these together, along the edges, with adhesive tape. Similarly Spaceloft strips, with a height complying with that of the screed finishes included, are vertically placed on the walls along the entire perimeter. Everything is covered with a polythene sheet and then the screed is cast properly reinforced with a welded wire mesh. Finally finishing with tiles or other coating.
